Orange County's Newest City is Connected to its Community
After just a few years since incorporation on July 1, 2001, the City of Aliso Viejo is well recognized as a robust and dynamic community designed to meet the growing needs of young families, professionals and enterprising businesses. It is a balanced community with opportunities for housing, jobs, multi-modal transportation, and recreation. An abundance of parks and trails, cultural and recreational activities, and youth sports programs further enhance the quality of life for a community with a vision to ensure long-term viability. All new cities capture their vision through the development of a blue print for community development. Aliso Viejo is well on its way with the adoption of its first General Plan just this year.
Aliso Viejo was the first planned community in California to provide a balance between its estimated 22,000 on-site jobs and the resident workforce. With a population of just over 44,000, all residents live within 2.5 miles of Aliso Viejo Town Center. This "downtown" includes over 800,000 square feet of retail shops and stores, restaurants, and medical offices.
More than 500 businesses with over 10,000 employees are located in Aliso Viejo - including headquarters for Fluor Corporation, QLogic Corporation, Safeguard Healthcare, Remedy Temp, Marie Calendar's, and Johnny Rockets. Major office complexes under development include the 1.5 million square foot Vantis and the 1.6 million square foot Summit. Aliso Viejo is projected to contain about five million square feet of headquarters and office space and two million square feet of industrial and R&D space.
Home to the Nicklaus-designed Aliso Viejo Golf Club, golf enthusiasts enjoy a year-round public course with lighted evening play, double-decked driving range, and clubhouse. Businesses and residents alike enjoy the community's amenities and feel connected to an environment that offers so many opportunities.
